Inside 9/11 Sets NGC Records

Miniseries Inside 9/11 set a host of ratings records for National Geographic Channel.

The two-part look at the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 -- which aired Sunday and Monday nights -- posted a 2.5 Nielsen Media Research household rating and a 2.0 among viewers 25-54 for the first installment, “War on America.”

Part two, “Zero Hour,” did even better, earning a 3.6 household rating and a 2.9 among viewers 25-54.

The two installments of Inside 9/11 marked the first time NGC broke the 2.0 mark, the network said.

“Our network is less than five years old and has produced thousands of hours of programming, but Inside 9/11 may be the most important four hours we've ever produced," NGC president Laureen Ong said in a prepared statement.

“It is immensely gratifying that it was viewed by so many people, since the information was intended to broaden the perspective and deepen the understanding on a topic that could not be more relevant,” she added.

NGC will air encore the entire presentations of Inside 9/11 Friday from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. (EST) and 8 p.m.-midnight (PST); Thursday, Sept. 8 at the same times; and Sunday, Sept. 11 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. (EST) and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (PST).
