Hughes Network Systems Inc. introduced a satellite-based virtual-private-network-acceleration technology Tuesday.
The company said its “DIRECWAY VPN Accelerator” will enable “enterprises and government agencies to implement uniformly efficient and secure wide-area broadband networks reaching teleworker employees at any location, urban or rural.”
The Accelerator is based on the IPsec (Internet-protocol-security protocol) standard.
“DIRECWAY VPN Accelerator allows organizations to expand the use of satellites to all teleworkers, wherever they are located, without the geographic limitations of DSL [digital subscriber line] or cable,” HNS vice president of North America strategic marketing Emil Regard said in a prepared statement.
