HBO’s Sex Goes Out with a Bang

Carrie and the girls said goodbye to millions of their friends Sunday night, sending off Sex and the City in fine fashion with record ratings and viewer totals.

The Home Box Office comedy ended its six-season, 94-episode run with a 21.8 rating/28 share within the premium network’s universe Feb. 22 from 9 p.m.-9:45 p.m. (EST), according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The show also attracted its largest audience ever: 10.6 million viewers, according to network officials.

The review shows leading into the finale also performed very well for HBO. A Farewell to Sex and the City Part I from 8 p.m.-8:30 p.m. scored a 13.6/18 share, while the second half-hour that followed registered a 15.9/21.
