Happy Valentine’s Day from Comcast
Comcast Corp. will launch “Dating on Demand” nationally Feb. 14.
The MSO described Dating on Demand -- which it is launching in partnership with Hurry Brands LLC’s HurryDate -- as the first service to combine video-on-demand and online dating.
Dating on Demand first launched in the MSO’s hometown area of Philadelphia last summer and, since then, profiles have been viewed more than 1 million times.
When using the service, Comcast Digital Cable customers with VOD can view video profiles of single men and women at any time.
Comcast said profiles of singles from the Philadelphia and Chicago areas will be available on Dating on Demand in Comcast markets across the United States Feb. 14, with singles from other cities -- including Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; Portland, Ore.; and Denver -- to be added later this spring.
“Dating on Demand is the next wave of dating, and we're making it easy for Comcast customers across the country to be a part of it," Comcast vice president and general manager of on-demand Page Thompson said in a prepared statement.
“Video-on-demand is changing the way people watch television, and now it's changing the way to meet people,” she added. “With Dating on Demand, viewers can see the 'real' person -- how they speak, learn what they they're interested in and what they're looking for in a date."
