Group Protests ‘LPMs’ in Chicago
By Linda Moss published
Members of Don’t Count Us Out, a minority-group coalition that opposes “Local People Meters,” held a demonstration Wednesday at a conference in Chicago where Nielsen Media Research’s chief was speaking.
The protest took place as Nielsen CEO Susan Whiting was delivering a speech at the Black Consumer Research and Advertising Summit.
Nielsen -- which plans to launch LPMs in Chicago later this year -- issued a statement after the protest defending its new meters and saying it was willing to meet with community leaders in the Windy City about them.
