Gol TV Kicks Off FC Barcelona-Real Madrid Saturday
GolTV will televise big matches from Span and Brazil this weekend.
The bilingual, soccer-centric service will air Spain's "El Clasico," featuring such notables as Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Fabio Cannavaro and Iker Casillas, as La Liga's Real Madrid clashes with FC Barcelona on Saturday May 2 at 2 p.m. (ET). In their earlier meeting this season, Barcelona, which leads Spain's top futbol circuit, topped its rival 2-0.
The following day at 3 p.m., Gol will show live coverage of rivals Corinthians and Santos FC as they go head to head in the final championship match of the 2009 "Campeonato Paulista," the state of São Paulo, Brazil's famous club soccer league.
"Four of the world's strongest club teams competing against their heated rivals on the same weekend is a soccer fan's fantasy. These will be two of the most historical and exciting matchups this year," said Enzo Francescoli, CEO and founder of GolTV, in a statement. "El Clásico is one of the most-watched international sporting events and features soccer's premier talent from around the globe."
