Gemstar-TV Guide International Monday named Ian Wallin vice president of national sales for TV Guide Online.
Wallin, whose appointment is effective immediately, will be based in New York and report to Richard Cusick, senior VP and general manager of digital media.
Wallin joins Gemstar-TV Guide with extensive experience driving online-advertising sales and business-development initiatives. He served in various sales-management roles at Microsoft, most recently as national director of sports, where he was responsible for sports-advertising sales and sales strategy.
Previously at Microsoft, he served as a district manager for New York and Boston for MSN, where he managed the sales teams in those cities and helped to spearhead the launch of MSN Health. Prior to that, Wallin was a market manager at MSN Local/Sidewalk.com, tasked with the rollout of a local-advertising strategy.
Before joining Microsoft, Wallin served in sales, marketing and business-development positions at Cendant Marketing Services, Dun & Bradstreet, M.S. Farrell and D.H. Blair.
