FiOS TV to Swim in Oyster Bay

The board of the town of Oyster Bay, N.Y., voted Tuesday to grant a video franchise to Verizon Communications Inc. for its Verizon FiOS TV service.

Oyster Bay is the fourth Long Island community and the seventh in the state to grant the regional Bell operating company a cable franchise.

In Long Island, Oyster Bay joins Massapequa Park, Hempstead and Cedarhurst. The Rockland County villages of Nyack, South Nyack and Upper Nyack also granted Verizon cable franchises earlier this year.

The telco has also obtained video franchises for communities in California, Delaware, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, as well as a state-issued franchise in Texas, covering more than 1.3 million households.
