Ex-Arbitron Head Shaker Dies at 83
Television veteran Ted Shaker died Wednesday at the age of 83.
Shaker, a former chairman and CEO of TV-ratings company Arbitron Inc., had a 40-year TV career.
In addition to Arbitron, Shaker was an executive at CBS, and he also served as group vice president in charge of four divisions at ABC -- the television network, international, film and spot sales.
Shaker is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice; brother E. Webster Shaker; daughter Susan Shaker Brownlee; sons Ted Shaker Jr. and John Shaker; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His family asked that donations in Shaker’s memory be made to Post 53 in Darien, Conn.; Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn.; or Mid-Fairfield Hospice in Wilton, Conn.
