With the World Cup advancing to the Round of 16, El Rey Network wants you to a throw a social media red card on your friends and colleagues in support of its upcoming spy thriller series Matador.
The multiplatform promotional initiative Red Cart Riot aims to increase engagement around Matador, which kicks off on July 15 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), and centers around Tony “Matador” Bravo (Gabriel Luna) a pro futboler for the LA Riot, who his known for his antics on and off the pitch. What his clan and fans don’t know is that he is covert CIA operative.
Red Card Riot enables fans to ‘call a foul’ on friends/colleagues/cultural incidents by sending them a personalized Red Card from www.RedCardRiot.com. While on the site, fans will also gain access to a sneak peek of Matador and exclusive videos featuring LA Riot players, whom are prone to drawing red cards on the field.
The campaign is conceived by Campfire/SapientNitro with production by RED Interactive and SunnyBoy; Media Storm did the media planning.
Known as 'the most red-carded team in the league,' it’s fitting that the fictional LA Riot team would celebrate fouls. The program rolls out today, June 26th, in celebration of the United States World Cup team advancing to the “Knockout Round.”
