EchoStar Communications Corp. has added Superstation WGN to its “Dish Latino Dos” and “Dish Latino Max” programming packages.
The direct-broadcast satellite provider recently concluded an agreement to add WGN to its “America's Top 100” package, as well as securing retransmission consent for WGN parent Tribune Co.’s owned-and-operated television stations.
WGN has added some 2 million homes since the beginning of the year through the EchoStar deals and other distribution deals, and the superstation is now available in more than 61 million homes.
"Dish Latino Dos and Dish Latino Max customers will benefit from the extended sports coverage that will be available," said Michael Schwimmer, senior vice president of programming at EchoStar, in reference to WGN’s 70 games from Major League Baseball’s National League Central Division champion Chicago Cubs, as well as White Sox MLB and Chicago Bulls National Basketball Association games.
