NBCU's National Broadband Co.
Brian Buchwald developed the business model for and managed the September 2006 launch of NBC Universal’s National Broadband Co., a B2B service that helps advertisers, content creators and publishers access, monetize and distribute digital video.
Buchwald serves as general manager of that effort.
He is also acting NBCU general manager for the company’s recently announced online video joint venture with News Corp.
He joined NBCU in 2005 as vice president of strategy and business development, playing a key role in the iVillage.com acquisition and the digital partnership between Telemundo and Yahoo.
Buchwald was also the digital media representative to the company’s Broadcast Affiliate Futures Committee, where NBBC was co-founded.
He began his career just a decade ago as an M&A investment banker in the Morgan Stanley Technology Group.
In 2000, Buchwald joined DoubleClick, where he was promoted to run business development as director of strategy & corporate development.
Buchwald welcomes the chance to play an important role in maximizing the potential of digital video.
“This is the first inning of a nine-inning ball game, and the possibilities are limitless,” he said. “We’ve got a winning team at NBCU, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
