Dish Touts KRBC’s Availability in Abilene

EchoStar Communications Corp. said Thursday that viewers in the Abilene-Sweetwater, Texas, area who want to watch NBC have two choices: rabbit ears or Dish Network.

NBC affiliate KRBC (channel 9) was pulled off Cox Communications Inc.’s area system Jan. 1 as a result of the MSO’s ongoing retransmission-consent dispute with Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc.

“Dish Network is pleased to be able to provide the full palette of local news, weather and sports that has been unavailable to cable customers in the Abilene-Sweetwater market," EchoStar vice president of programming Eric Sahl said in a prepared statement. "We are especially pleased to offer this service with our digital package at a price lower than anything comparable within the cable industry."

In addition to KRBC, Abilene-Sweetwater-area Dish customers in 16 counties can now receive ABC channel 12 (KTXS), CBS channel 32 (KTAB), Fox channel 15 (KXVA) and Telemundo channel 40 (KTES).

Dish now offers local channels in 154 cities and their metro areas, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
