Dish Network has recruited Warren Schlichting, who previously led Comcast's advanced-advertising initiatives, to be senior vice president of its Media Sales division.
Schlichting will be based in New York and will be responsible for all advertising sales and set-top data initiatives for Dish.
"Warren brings to Dish Network many years of experience, deep industry relationships and a vision for advanced and targeted advertising services that will be instrumental in increasing the value of our advertising inventory," Dish executive vice president Tom Cullen said in an announcement. "The Dish Media Sales team has a history of employing technology to address the evolving needs of agencies and clients, and we are pleased that Warren will be joining us to continue that momentum."
Schlichting spent nine years at Comcast, most recently focusing on efforts to take advantage of new network advertising opportunities with the deal for NBCUniversal. He also served as senior vice president of advanced advertising -- where he oversaw the development and launch of the cable operator's online, video-on-demand and interactive TV advertising products -- and was vice president of new business development for Comcast Spotlight.
Schlichting also briefly served as senior vice president of corporate development for Canoe Ventures, the advanced-advertising joint venture of the six biggest U.S. cable operators.
Prior to that, Schlichting held several other leadership roles including CEO at Hiwire, CEO at Yucatan Foods, and senior vice president at William E. Simon Group.
Dish has a deal with Google, which sells local advertising avails on more than 100 networks on behalf of the satellite operator, and offers interactive TV advertising products as well.
