Dish Launches Latin American Sports Net In Puerto Rico
Dish Network has reached a carriage agreement with Alterna TV to distribute Latin American Sports in Puerto Rico.
The channel delivers an expansive array of Puerto Rican sports with live matches of local teams and is available exclusively to Dish customers in Puerto Rico through the DishLatino Clasico, DishLatino DOS and DishLatino Max programming packages. Deal terms were not disclosed.
Now available on channel 856, LAS is a 24-hour Spanish-language sports channel that brings the "Boricuas," the widest coverage of their favorite sports from Puerto Rico, Cuba and Mexico.

Without question, LAS will thrill sports fans on the island with its unparalleled local coverage and vast lineup of exclusive live matches."

For the first time on Puerto Rican TV, subscribers to LAS will be able to watch:
•More than 50 matches of the Puerto Rico Baseball League, beginning October 2010;
•More than 100 matches of the Cuban Baseball League, beginning November 2010;
•More than 70 matches of the Puerto Rico AA Baseball League, beginning February 2011;
•More than 40 matches of the Puerto Rico AAA Baseball League, beginning September 2010;
•More than 30 matches of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rican Basketball League), beginning March 2011;
•More than 40 matches of both the men's and women's Puerto Rican Volleyball Leagues, with the women's starting in February 2011 and men's in June 2011;
•Key matches in Mix Martial Arts with MAXXFC fights from Puerto Rico;
•Updates and profiles on the careers of Puerto Rican players playing abroad, including: Pedro Valdes (from Fajardo) and Luis Matos (from Bayamón), currently playing in the Mexican Baseball Pacific League (Liga Mexicana de Pacifico); and
•Special coverage and documentaries on Puerto Rican Sports Legends, with daily capsules "Huellas del Deporte."
