Dish, Citadel Agree to Extend Retrans Talks
By Mike Farrell published
Dish Network and Citadel Communications, parent of WLNE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Providence, R.I., have agreed to extend their retransmission consent talks to 7 p.m. on Sept. 6, the satellite TV service provider said in a statement.
Dish’s retrans deal with the station was set to expire on Aug. 18 and had begun to distribute antennas to its subscribers in the area, encouraging them to drop their broadcast service all together and save up to $10 per month on their satellite TV bills. The parties agreed to extend their talks to Aug. 23 and on that day, after no deal was reached, said they would push the deadline further.
Dish has about 13.3 million customers across the country.
