DirecTV Premieres ‘Odyssey’ This Week

DirecTV will debut Odyssey: Driving Around the World, an original series that aims to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease, this Thursday (June 5).

The 13-episode show from Defiance Entertainment makes its U.S. debut exclusively on The 101, DirecTV’s original-entertainment channel, at 8 p.m. It chronicles a team of seven adventure seekers as they traverse across four continents and two oceans, all to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

Airing Thursdays in high-definition, Odyssey will take viewers on a worldwide journey with team leader Nick and his six cohorts, Neil, Rolf, Todd, Chanda, Nancy and Justin, as they explore the different terrain and cultures of 26 countries.

The trip raised more than $100,000 for Parkinson’s research and was supported by Michael J. Fox, James Caan, and the Dalai Lama — all of whom signed the three SUVs to be auctioned off to raise additional funds.

The series was produced and directed by Adam Burgess of Burgess Productions. British radio personality Gareth “Gaz” Wesley narrates the series.
