Current, RooftopComedy Ink Syndication Pact

Current, the integrated online and broadcast media company, and RooftopComedy Monday announced they have signed a syndication deal that will deliver stand-up and sketch comedy programming to viewers across the Current TV network and Web site.

RooftopComedy will provide Current TV a weekly program of stand-up performed by top young comedians from throughout the United States who speak out on topical, headline subjects.

“Humor is one of the best ways to talk honestly about sensitive topics, and RooftopComedy leverages comedy in a thoughtful, unique way,” David Neuman, Current’s president of programming, said in a statement. “We’re pleased to bring this fresh programming to the Current audience.”

Current joins other syndication partners including Yahoo News, Nokia, Motorola, iTunes, Sprint, YouTube, Hulu, DailyMotion, Buzzwire, Lexy, mSpot, MobileStreams and Optus, an Australian mobile carrier.

“Current is on the cutting edge of media content and distribution with a young,

socially-aware audience that makes them a perfect partner for our programming,” Will C. Rogers, CEO of RooftopComedy, said in a statement. “We record comedy every single day from around the world, giving us, our partners and their viewers an exclusive window into what comedians are saying about the most topical issues of the day.”
