Crenshaw to Tee It Up for Time Warner

Masters Tournament champion, Ryder Cup team champion and now cable spokesman.

Champion golfer Ben Crenshaw signed a three-year representation agreement with Time Warner Cable in Texas. The sportsman will promote cable, high-speed-Internet and digital-phone services. He’ll be featured in print and media advertising and at corporate outings, and he will wear the Time Warner logo for public appearances.

Time Warner Texas region president Wayne Knighton said Crenshaw is the ideal company spokesman due to his skill and relentless focus on winning -- characteristics that mirror the qualities of “our high-performance company.”

The representation deal comes at a time when operators are preparing themselves for a competitive battle with telephone companies. Verizon Communications already rolled out its video services in Keller and a handful of other Texas communities, and AT&T executives have said that its Internet-protocol-based video product, now in limited rollout in San Antonio, will add markets in Texas before the end of the year.
