Kathryn Falk, Cox Communications vice president of public and government affairs for the Virginia region, was elected to the chair of the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association at the trade association’s annual meeting.
The VCTA’s other executive committee members are: Chairman-elect: Gary McCollum of Cox Communications; vice chair: CK Allen of Time Warner Cable; immediate past chair: Danny Jobe of MetroCast; treasurer: Donna Rattley Washington of Comcast; secretary: Chris Kyle of SHENTEL; and PAC chairman: Rob Omberg of Comcast.
Elected as directors are: Dave Breidinger of Comcast Northeast Division; Russell Byrd of Comcast; Jim Corrin of Charter Communications; Ken Dye of Comcast; Sharon Fanto of Cox Media; Steve Hill of Comcast; Kevin Meek of Comcast Spotlight; Allen Roberts of Cox Communications; Greg Sapp of Citizens Cable and Marie Schuler of Comcast.
Elected as associate board members are: Becky Mullings Crosetto of Discovery Communications; Patrick Harrell of New Frontier Media; Mark Romano of Outdoor Channel and Sara Timmins of RLTV.
Falk has been with Cox since 2002, having spent five years before that as president of the VCTA. The group’s current president, Ray LaMura, told Multichannel News “it’s a great opportunity for me and the association to have her in the chair this year.”
Falk told Multichannel News: “It is such an honor to be elected chairman of the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association. It is a wonderful and vibrant organization with highly engaged members on the system and vendor sides. I joined Cox Communications 12 years ago after serving as President of the Virginia Cable Television Association for five years. Cox is a fabulous company and I am so grateful to be asked to join them and be part of a great operation with great people. Since then, I have had the pleasure of serving on the VCTA Board of Directors. While many things have changed like the deployment of broadband, Wi-Fi, home security, as well as new video products, the VCTA continues to play an important role in Virginia for our industry especially in the policymaking arena. With a new governor, lieutenant. governor and attorney general as well as many new members of the House of Delegates, we have a significant amount of work ahead to educate new leaders about the contributions of our industry and our policy goals.”
She continued: “Our annual meeting highlighted some of our great long term members like Donald A. Perry, of First Commonwealth CableVision who passed away a few years ago but as a legacy set up a scholarship fund through the VCTA for Virginia’s Future Leaders. So far, the fund has donated more than $1 million to student leaders to further their education. We also honored the contributions of Britt Belyea who recently passed away and was a leader in engineering and the SCTE. This rich history is part of what makes this group so special.”
The VCTA annual meeting was held Nov. 11-12 in Colonial Williamsburg. Approximately 150 people attended.
