Cox Ups Marilyn Burrows To Central Region GM

Cox Communications has promoted Marilyn Burrows to senior vice president and general manager of the company's Central Region (Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska) and said Duffy Leone, an operating executive in California, will succeed her as SVP and GM in Las Vegas.

The changes are effective Jan.16.

The vacancy in the Central Region was created in the fall when Janet Barnard was promoted to join Cox Enterprises-owned Manheim as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Prior to moving to Las Vegas in 2009, Burrows served as general manager for Cox's Roanoke, Va., operations. Her extensive cable and telecommunications includes time as vice president of online services at Time Warner Cable, managing director and vice president of international business development at U S West and founding partner of Callahan Associates International, a hybrid investment/operating company with cable and wireless businesses in Europe.

Leone is currently SVP of operations for Cox's recently unified California system. Prior to that role, he was SVP and GM of Cox's Orange Coast system, including Orange County, Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes markets.

Leone joined Cox in 1980 as a door-to-door salesman and began serving in Cox general manager roles in 1987.

Jill Campbell, senior vice president of operations, Cox Communications, said in a statement: "As Cox continues to evolve its operations to a more regional structure it is necessary to have general managers in place with proven experience and the ability to execute on an increasingly larger scale. Marilyn and Duffy have provided consistent leadership throughout their careers and we are confident they will leverage their decades of cable and telecom expertise management expertise to drive outstanding results in their expanded roles."
