Cox Taps VeriSign for VoIP CALEA
By Matt Stump published
VeriSign Inc. announced a deal with Cox Communications Inc. to provide software for CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law-Enforcement Agencies) compliance for Cox's voice-over-Internet-protocol rollout in Roanoke, Va.
Cox will use VeriSign's "NetDiscovery Services" under an outsourcing agreement.
CALEA requires carriers to help law-enforcement agencies with surveillance through the purchase of dedicated hardware. VeriSign said its NetDiscovery service streamlines the CALEA-compliance requirements.
