Cox To Launch TV5 Monde In New Orleans

Cox News Orleans is set to launch TV5 Monde USA on its system tomorrow.
The Dec. 8 rollout of the service on channel 335 of Cox's Sports and Information tier will mark the first French-language network to serve the DMA. Deal terms were not disclosed.
With the city's name and heritage linked to Philippe II, Duke of Orleans who was the Regent of France, French-speaking households still comprise nearly 20% of the city's population, according to TV5 Monde.
"Cox is excited to provide TV5 Monde to our subscribers in New Orleans," said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and general manager, Cox Louisiana, in a statement. "The French influence on New Orleans has had a significant impact on the history and culture of this city. We feel TV5 Monde's amazing lineup of French programming will be a complement to the cultural education and diversity of the City of New Orleans."
Noted TV5 Monde general manager Marie-Christine Saragosse: "We are most pleased to be partnering with Cox New Orleans to make the launch of TV5 Monde a reality and to bring news, culture and entertainment from the French-speaking universe to a city in America that is very dear to our hearts at the network."
