Cox Communications will raise rates for its standard cable service in Rhode Island by 7% in September, AP reported.
The service will rise to $45.95 per month Sept. 19, a $3 monthly increase. The MSO raised its price for standard service in the state by $1.96 per month last year, spokeswoman Leigh Ann Woisard told AP, adding that there were no hikes the previous two years.
Cox said in a prepared statement said it is raising rates due to higher costs for power, fuel and programming, adding that the latter have increased by 15% in the past two years.
Cox has 300,000 subscribers in Rhode Island, according to AP.
