Cox Chips In $10M to Katrina Relief

Cox Enterprises Inc. said Friday that it will contribute $10 million in cash and in-kind donations to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The company announced an employee disaster-relief fund last week, with employee contributions matched dollar-for-dollar, and the fund has collected $425,000 from employees thus far with an ultimate goal of $1 million.

Supplier partners of Cox Enterprises and its subsidiaries have also contributed $125,000 to the employee-relief fund, and the company said they can continue to do so by contacting Leigh Ann Launius at (678) 645-0602.

“Cox is committed to helping those in need in the Gulf Coast region, and we hope this gift will assist in the relief and recovery of the affected communities," Cox Enterprises chairman and CEO James C. Kennedy said in a prepared statement. "We're committed to rebuilding our businesses and the communities they serve."
