Court TV Special to Debut on TW FVOD

Time Warner Cable will bow Court TV’s Scott Peterson: A Deadly Game special on its free-video-on-demand service Aug. 1, three days before the show’s network premiere.

The effort -- the first time a Court TV original show has aired on another platform before its linear-network debut -- will provide Court TV with an opportunity to promote the show before it airs on the network, as well as gather insight on the value of FVOD, according to network officials.

The show -- based on Court TV personality Catherine Crier’s best-selling book, A Deadly Game: The Untold Story of the Scott Peterson Investigation -- will be available to Time Warner’s 4.5 million digital subscribers.

“We’re trying to figure out the business model for VOD, but the idea of premiering sneak peeks like this is a big deal,” Court TV executive vice president of affiliate relations Bob Rose said in a prepared statement. “If Time Warner embraces it and it’s successful for them, it will pay off for us. If they find benefit, it will translate to benefits for us, as well.”
