Consolidated Taps Tut

Consolidated Communications will use Tut Systems Inc.’s “Astria” digital-headend solution to deliver digital TV over its digital-subscriber-line and fiber-to-the-home networks for its recently announced “Digital Video Service.”

Following the deployment, Consolidated will deliver a “triple play” of voice, video and data services to its customers in central Illinois.

“The Astria system provides us with a proven carrier-class platform and encoding quality on par with more expensive, so-called premium encoders,” Consolidated director of network engineering Tom White said in a prepared statement.
