Conexant Systems CEO Dwight W. Decker plans to retire this fall, the chip company announced Monday.
Decker, 57, will remain CEO until a replacement is hired and is expected to continue to serve as Conexant's chairman.
Decker was named CEO of Conexant when it spun off from Rockwell International in 1999. He retired from the company after its merger with GlobespanVirata was completed in February 2004 but returned as CEO in November of that year.
Conexant produces semiconductors for cable modems, set-top boxes and other communications equipment.
