Comcast's Murphy To Address SCTE Management Conference

Dan Murphy, senior vice president of engineering and operations for Comcast's Central Division, is scheduled to deliver an opening presentation at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers' Management Development Program to be held May 7-11 in Atlanta in conjunction with the Georgia Tech College of Management.

SCTE said Murphy's informal discussion May 7 will cover topics including plant capacity and management of capital and operating expenses. In addition, SCTE vice president of engineering and network operations Marty Davidson will lead an afternoon session on cable network management and total cost of ownership awareness for cable products and services.

"The fast pace of cable technology today is raising the bar for engineers and operations professionals," Murphy said in a statement supplied by SCTE. "Through initiatives such as the SCTE-Georgia Tech Management Development Program, we have an opportunity to provide our industry's most promising young technologists with skills they need to drive future success for cable."

Part of the SCTE Leadership Institute, the Management Development Program is designed to help mid-level cable engineering and operations management professionals improve skills to plan and execute projects and manage in-house and external resources. The weeklong program, at Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus, costs $5,950 and includes private accommodations, course material and most meals.
