Comcast Spotlight's iPad App Pitches Satellite, Telco TV Ad Interconnect

Want info on how to buy local ads reaching more than 30 million U.S. homes on Comcast, DirecTV, Verizon FiOS TV and AT&T U-verse TV? There's an app for that.

Comcast Spotlight, the cable operator's ad-sales arm, this week launched an iPad app with information about the I+ platform, which provides local ad insertion in 33 markets served by Comcast, FiOS TV, U-verse TV and DirecTV. The app -- aimed at advertisers and media buyers -- provides details on designated market areas (DMAs) and networks where it offers I+, as well as programming highlights and interactive games.

Next year, Comcast Spotlight plans to augment the app with information on advertising for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and the political ad-buying season, "so be sure to keep an eye out for our updates," Stefanie Smentek, manager of digital marketing, wrote in a blog post Tuesday.

The Comcast Spotlight iPad app is available to download from the iTunes App Store.

NCC Media, the national spot-ad sales group owned by Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, also is selling I+ inventory across those three operators, FiOS, U-verse and DirecTV, with the ability to reach more than 80 million households.
