Comcast to Sponsor ‘'Tall Ships Tacoma’

Comcast Corp. is heading for the high seas.

The MSO said Tuesday that it will be a major sponsor of “Tall Ships Tacoma 2005,” which will bring sailing ships to the waterfront of Tacoma, Wash., June 30-July 5.

More than 400,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, and daily activities will include ship viewing and tours, entertainment stages, museum exhibits, maritime-film screenings, gala events, sailing-skill demonstrations, sailing adventures, cannon battles and fireworks.

“Having Comcast as a major sponsor of the Tall Ships Tacoma festival gives us the ability to extend an invitation to millions of potential visitors and will offer value to every other major sponsor who steps forward,” Tacoma Events Commission executive producer and director Doug Miller said in a prepared statement.

Comcast area vice president Anne McMullen added, “Our employees have been watching the waterfront area evolve and improve for years. We're very pleased that Tall Ships Tacoma 2005 will allow the city to show off the ‘new’ waterfront in a spectacular way to hundreds of thousands of visitors.”
