Comcast Names Henninger Head Of California Division

Comcast has named Curt Henninger as regional senior vice president for California, after previously running the operator's Oregon and Southwest Washington division.

Henninger takes over for Steve White, who was named president of Comcast's West Division last fall. Henninger will report directly to White.

Comcast's California operating division, based in Livermore, serves more than 2.4 million customers and employs more than 7,000 local residents across northern and central parts of the state.

Farther north, under Henninger's leadership, the Oregon and Southwest Washington division was selected as Comcast's System of the Year twice over the course of four years. He also ran the region when it was operating as AT&T Broadband, which Comcast acquired in 2002. The region has about 600,000 customers and 2,000 employees.

"I am elated and honored to assume this new leadership role for one of Comcast's most dynamic markets," Henninger said in a statement. "I look forward to working with the outstanding Comcast employees in California to further improve our relationship with our customers and to provide the best entertainment and communications experience in the state."

Before joining AT&T Broadband in 2000, Henninger was vice president of sales and marketing for MediaOne in New England and spent five years as a sales executive for AirTouch Cellular. He also once worked for Circuit City Stores in Richmond, Va., where he was responsible for merchandising and purchasing.

Henninger holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois, and has attended executive development programs at Harvard University, UCLA's Anderson School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
