Comcast said late Tuesday that it is hiring Providence Equity Partners managing director Michael Angelakis as co-chief financial officer.
The move follows a search the MSO began late last year, when co-CFOs Lawrence Smith and John Alchin that they were considering stepping down in 2007 as they approach retirement age.
Comcast said Smith will step down at the end of the first quarter. Alchin will continue to serve as co-CFO through the end of 2007, and Angelakis is expected to join the top cable distributor at the end of the first quarter of 2007. He’ll become CFO in 2008.
