Comcast California Bolsters Government Affairs Office

Comcast has hired Sue Vaccaro to the newly-created post of senior director of government affairs for California, where she will report to Mary Stutts, regional VP of external affairs for Comcast California.

Vaccaro, who will be based in the company’s Livermore , will oversee Comcast’s government affairs and telecommunications policy matters throughout the state and manage a team of government affairs field directors.

“We are thrilled to add Sue Vaccaro to Comcast’s talented Government Affairs team,” said Stutts, in a statement.  “Her extensive experience in California government relations and legislative advocacy, combined with her skill in directing large government affairs teams, will be valuable assets in Comcast’s relationships with local elected officials and municipal agencies.”

Vaccaro joins Comcast after 15 years at Republic Services Incorporated, a non-hazardous solid waste and recycling company. She is also late of Kaiser Permanente, served as District Representative for U.S. Congressman Vic Fazio, and was special projects director for the Solano Economic Development Corporation.  Vaccaro also  worked in broadcast media and served as a researcher, writer and producer for KGO-TV, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco, from 1982 to 1990.
