Comcast Brings Local VOD to New England

Comcast Corp. said Thursday that it has partnered with several New England broadcast and cable channels to launch its “Get Local” video-on-demand service in the region.

The MSO’s 2.2 million New England subscribers now have 24-hour access to local broadcast and cable programming minutes after it airs, complete with pause, rewind and fast-forward ability.

Local channels included in Comcast Get Local are New England Cable News, WCVB-TV channel 5, WGBH, New England Sports Network and CN8, The Comcast Network.

“Get Local brings together some of New England's best programming brands in a format that fundamentally changes the way people watch television," Comcast Eastern division president and CN8 founder Michael Doyle said in a prepared statement.
