‘CMT Crossroads' Episode Gets DVD Treatment
CMT and Big Machine Records are releasing the first-ever DVD of a CMT Crossroads series episode, the one featuring Taylor Swift and Def Leppard, on June 16 in Wal-Mart and Sam's Clubs stores.
The $11.98 DVD hits shelves the same day Swift and Def Leppard are scheduled to appear on the 2009 CMT Music Awards. Their performance of "Photograph" from the concert is nominated in the Performance of the Year and Wide Open Country Video of the Year categories.
The DVD is available for pre-ordering at this Wal-Mart link.
The show was taped in October 2008 in Nashville before a standing-room audience. It premiered on Viacom-owned CMT in November 2008. The DVD has 11 tracks, including three bonus songs that weren't part of the Crossroads episode. It also has extended and new interviews with the artists.
CMT Crossroads pairs artists from different genres and, in this case, it paired a top-selling country artist (Swift) with her childhood idols, rockers Def Leppard. Recent episodes have included Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson. The most recent pairing, Bryan Adams and Jason Aldean, premieres June 26 on CMT.
