Cinelatino Launches On Cox Las Vegas
Completing its distribution with Cox, Cinelatino has secured carriage on the MSO's service area in Las Vegas.
The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, places the Spanish-language movie service on the MSO's Latino Pak. Cinelatino rolled out to Cox's Las Vegas subscribers on channel 149 today.
Each month, the commercial-free Cinelatino presents 10 to 15 movie premieres, which the programmer says is more than any other Spanish-language film channel. Cinelatino is available in some 4 million homes throughout the United States.
"Cox Las Vegas strives to offer the best and most comprehensive programming for our diverse customer base, and we are excited to give our Hispanic viewers access to the biggest movie releases from their countries of origin in the comfort of their own home on Cinelatino," said Steve Schorr, vice president of public and government affairs at Cox Las Vegas, in announcing the launch.
Cinelatino will premiere a mix of important Spanish-language movies throughout August and September, including La Teta Asustada (The Milk of Sorrow), the most award-winning Peruvian film in 2009; Un mundo Raro (A Strange World), a Mexican satirical comedy-drama starring Victor Hugo Arana and Ana Seradilla that won five international awards; Sexo, Amor y Otras Perversiones (Sex, Love and Other Perversions), a collection of shorts by eight renowned Mexican directors about love and intimacy; and Los Que se Quedan (Those Who Remain), an award-winning documentary about the families and villages left behind by those who migrate from Mexico to the United States.
