Charter Hires Ex-Cablevision Exec Weber
Scott Weber will join Charter Communications as executive vice president of network operations effective next week, becoming the fourth high-level Cablevision Systems exec to join Charter in recent months.
Weber previously was Cablevision's executive vice president, engineering network management. He will join St. Louis-based Charter on June 18, and will be responsible for all network operations across the operator's footprint.
His move comes after three other Cablevision executives left to join Charter, including: chief operating officer Tom Rutledge, who is now CEO of Charter; president of cable communications John Bickham, who joined Charter last month as COO; and marketing executive VP Jonathan Hargis, now Charter's EVP of marketing.
"I have worked with Scott before and have great confidence in his ability to help Charter achieve its full potential and deliver an exceptional experience to our customers," Bickham said in a statement. "His experience and leadership will be a great complement to the Charter team."
Prior to joining Cablevision in 2007, Weber worked for Comcast for two decades, leading technical operations, engineering operations and network management in various roles. He left Cablevision in late 2011.
Other Cablevision execs that have quit the Bethpage, N.Y.-based operator in recent months include EVP of corporate engineering Jim Blackley, EVP of consumer operations Kathleen "Kip" Mayo, EVP of product management John Trierweiler and president and COO of media sales David Kline.
