Charter CTO Fawaz Adds Operational Duties

Charter Communications announced that chief technology officer Marwan Fawaz will also assume responsibilities for the MSO's operations, and will add the title of executive vice president of operations.

As executive vice president of operations, effective immediately, Fawaz will oversee Charter's East and West operating groups, customer care, human resources and the business intelligence group, in addition to continuing to lead Charter's network and technology organizations.

Mike Lovett, who was named Charter's president and CEO last month after Neil Smit joined Comcast, had previously been the COO at Charter.

"Marwan brings to this position a great mix of strategic foresight, technical experience and passion for this industry," Lovett said in announcing the change Wednesday. "He has played a critical role in Charter's success and will continue to do so in the future."

Fawaz joined Charter as CTO in March of 2006, after serving in the same position at Adelphia Communications. He started his career at Times Mirror Cable Television in the 1980s, and has held technical and operations positions at Continental Cablevision, MediaOne and Paul Allen's Vulcan Inc.
