Canadian Telco Picks Ericsson IPTV Solution

Valtech Communications, a provider of voice, video and Internet services in Quebec, Canada, has chosen Ericsson's IPTV solution to provide new television services to its customers.

The Ericsson solution comprises broadband access, multiservice edge routers, video compression, IPTV middleware and content-distribution platforms. The offering includes components from Ericsson's Tandberg Televison and Redback Networks subsidiaries.

In a statement, Valtech president René Arbic said: "We have chosen Ericsson's solution not only because of the quality of the IPTV platform but also because of the state-of-the art components, technological partners, services capability and availability of local competence. Together, we can establish new standards for IPTV in North America and abroad."

Ericsson said it has signed more than 180 contracts with providers for its IPTV solution.
