Cablevision Promotes Pistacchio To President Of Optimum Lightpath

Cablevision Systems Corp. has elevated Dave Pistacchio to president of its Optimum Lightpath unit.

In this position, Pistacchio, who had been serving as executive vice president and general manager, will continue to be responsible for driving Optimum Lightpath's growth as a provider of business communications with advanced Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, video transport solutions, hosted and managed services to businesses across the New York metropolitan area.

Pistacchio joined Optimum Lightpath in 2005 and has guided the company through its evolution to Metro Ethernet to provide voice, data and video services to medium and large businesses in the New York DMA. Today, Optimum Lightpath's network extends more than 3,700 route miles and is connected to over 3,300 buildings, representing an 80% growth in on-net buildings since 2005, according to the company.

With Cablevision since 1994, Pistacchio, has worked in a number of information technology positions for the cable operator and its Rainbow Media programming arm, including as executive vice president and CIO. He played a key role in developing technologies that enabled the launch of Cablevision's advanced digital product offerings, including iO digital television, Optimum Online and Optimum Voice. His leadership was also instrumental in the development of the industry's first self-installation model for digital services.

"Under Dave's direction, Optimum Lightpath has empowered businesses by delivering the network they need to change the way they work: in the office, the classroom, the hospital, the community and on the trading floor," said Cablevision COO Tom Rutledge in a statement. "This year marks strong growth with a 48% increase in new Ethernet revenue over last year's first quarter. We are pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion in recognition of Dave's tremendous contributions to the company."
