Cablevision has added the high-definition network versions of Univision and TeleFutura to its lineup.
The predominant distributor in the New York DMA has launched Univision HD and TeleFutura HD, making it available for free to its 2.9 million digital customers, just two weeks before the networks and their standard-definition counterparts will present the 2010 FIFA World Cup from South Africa. Deal terms were not disclosed.
"Univision HD and TeleFutura HD are great additions to our iO TV high-definition lineup, and significant enhancements to our existing Spanish-language programming," said Gary Schanman, Cablevision's senior vice president of video product management, in a statement. "Like the more than 100 other HD channels we deliver to iO customers, Univision HD and TeleFutura HD are both available without the extra equipment or programming fees many of our competitors charge for high definition."
Univision HD can be found on channels 6, 8, 18, 705 or 706, depending on location, while TeleFutura HD is available on channels 17 or 708.
