Cable-Tec Expo: Cisco Names Andersen Head Of Cable Group

Cisco Systems has appointed Jesper Andersen, formerly head of its Network Management Technology Group, as the new senior vice president and general manager of its Service Provider Video Technology Group.

Cisco announced Andersen's new role internally last week, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

Andersen takes over for Enrique Rodriguez, who left the company this summer after a little more than a year in the job. Rodriguez had joined Cisco in June 2010 after running Microsoft's TV, video and music business.

Andersen reports to Marthin De Beer, senior vice president of the company's Emerging Business Group. Cisco combined its service provider and enterprise video businesses, including those encompassing the former Scientific Atlanta, under De Beer's direction.

Previously, Andersen was responsible Cisco's portfolio of products for enterprises and service providers designed to manage the vendor's equipment and associated services.

Prior to Cisco, Andersen was senior vice president of application development at Oracle, responsible for the company's overall application strategy and cross-company product integration activities. Before that he was general manager and group vice president at PeopleSoft (now part of Oracle) and served as executive vice president of products for Pivotal.

Andersen holds a master's degree in computer science from Aalborg University in Denmark.
