SCTE/ISBE said attendance at this week’s Cable-Tec Expo in Philadelphia surged past that 10,000 mark, noting that the rise was up roughly 21% from the 8,600 who joined the 2015 confab in New Orleans.

The organization said international attendance hit more than 1,300, a 14% increase over 2015., and had a show floor with nearly 400 exhibitors, including 62 that were new to the event. SCTE/ISBE said the event attracted nearly 130 first-time exhibitors over the past two years.

Notably, Cable-Tec Expo announced the rise in attendance the day after NCTA announced that it was “sunsetting” its annual show, INTX.

“Our experience this week underscores a primary reason for the robustness and relevance of Expo: the telecommunications community requires a crossroads that connects technology partners, operators and the cable workforce with the innovations and the educational resources that are powering the future of the industry,” said Chris Bastian, senior vice president and CTO of SCTE/ISBE, in a statement.

SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2017 is set for Oct. 17-20 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.  Terry Cordova, executive vice president and CTO of Altice USA, and Charter’s Blackley will serve as Program Committee co-chairs for the 2017 event.
