Bresnan Shuffles Top Execs

Bresnan Communications has reshuffled some titles at its top management, naming chief financial officer Jeffrey DeMond president and moving former president, CEO and founder William Bresnan to the chairman and CEO slot.

DeMond, who has been with Bresnan for about 20 years, will retain his CFO duties in addition to the presidency.

As chairman and CEO, Bresnan will continue to have responsibility for the company’s cable operations and its strategic and industry relationships.

In a prepared statement, the MSO -- which has about 300,000 subscribers in Montana, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado -- said the moves will have no effect on day-to-day operations.

In a press release, Bresnan said the moves are being made to strengthen the company’s ability to pursue expanded growth opportunities, including potential partnerships and new acquisitions.

“In the increasingly competitive marketplace faced by our industry, we believe we can best strengthen our financial performance by creating and identifying new opportunities for growth through expanded strategic partnerships,” William Bresnan said in a prepared statement. “This is an area on which I personally will be placing great emphasis. I also will draw upon Jeff’s strong financial experience as I pursue this goal.”

DeMond will report to Bresnan, as will the government-affairs and community-development functions. All other company officers, departments and functions will report directly or indirectly to DeMond.
