Bravo HD+ to Become Universal HD
NBC Universal Cable said Tuesday that it plans to relaunch its Bravo HD+ channel as Universal HD Dec. 1.
The HD network -- which has featured HD programs from NBC’s library and concert series -- will change its focus to movies from the Universal library, including Backdraft, Back to the Future, Billy Madison and Jaws.
Universal HD will also contain some NBC Universal programs in HD, such as USA Network’s Monk and NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but NBC’s The West Wing, once a staple on Bravo HD+, won’t be included on Universal HD.
NBC Universal said Universal HD will count about 25 million subscribers when it relaunches through distribution deals with DirecTV Inc., Cablevision Systems Corp., Cox Communications Inc, Insight Communications Co. Inc., Mediacom Communications Corp., Voom and others.
