Bay Area Workers Happy with Comcast

Comcast was named among the top places to work in the San Francisco Bay area, according to an article that will be published Friday by the San Francisco Business Times, the East Bay Business Timesand the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.

The rankings were announced at an event Monday in advance of the publication.

Comcast ranked second behind biotechnology researcher Genentech in the category for companies with 3,000 or more employees. Also in the top five: Washington Mutual, Catholic Healthcare West and California Pacific Medical Center.

Thomas Pisarek, research director for the magazines, said 161,000 employees in 12 counties in the San Francisco Bay area were surveyed about their satisfaction with their employer. Workers were asked 37 questions to rate the performance of their employer, such as whether they were satisfied with their benefits package.

Comcast California regional vice president Rick Germano, in a prepared statement touting the ranking, attributed the company’s result to benefits such as tuition reimbursement and opportunities for professional advancement via classes from Comcast University.
