Anime Signals On-Demand Mediacom Deal

Anime Network has reached a carriage accord with Mediacom Communications, giving the channel placement on the operator’s systems as a subscription video on demand service.

Under terms of the deal, which were not disclosed, Mediacom will make Anime available to its digital customers as an SVOD service, providing them with access to such anime fare as Magikano, Welcome to the NHK, CromartieHigh School and Nurse Witch Komugi.

Anime officials said that with the Mediacom contract, the network’s total VOD distribution base has expanded to more than 33 million homes.

“Anime Network's subscription video-on-demand service has proven to be a successful business model for our affiliates, and we are pleased to include Mediacom to our growing list of MSO partners,” said vice president, affiliate sales and new media Kevin McFeeley in a statement.
