ADL Recognizes Lenfest

Cable entrepreneur H.F. Gerry Lenfest has been named this year’s recipient of the Anti- Defamation League’s “Americanism Award.”

Lenfest will receive the award at the Americanism Award Dinner in his honor Wednesday.

The event will raise funds to support ADL’s programs to combat hate and bigotry, teach diversity and tolerance and support religious freedom.

“By all measures, the ADL is one of the foremost human-rights organizations in the world, and it is very fitting for Gerry to be chosen for this prestigious award,” dinner chairperson and PNC Bank president in Philadelphia and southern New Jersey J. William Mills III said in a prepared statement.

“He is a remarkable individual whose business endeavors and charitable activities have made lasting contributions to our economic and civic well being,” Mills added. “His commitment to helping others achieve and succeed without regard to race, creed or religion truly embodies ADL’s fight against racism, prejudice and bigotry.”
