ActiveVideo Networks Hires Programming VP

ActiveVideo Networks, the San Jose, Calif.-based developer of interactive television technology, Thursday named Jason Harvey as its new vice president and general manager of programming strategy and operations.

Harvey, who most recently served as a senior industry marketing manager at search giant Google where he spearheaded new media and online sales in Latin America, will be responsible for “maximizing the business potential of the ActiveVideo Distribution Network, including the acquisition, carriage and monetization of content,” ActiveVideo officials said in a statement.

Based on standard Web authoring and delivery technologies, the ActiveVideo Distribution Network enables expanded programming, navigation and advertising opportunities by infusing TV with Web content and interactivity.

On Wednesday, the company tabbed Edgar Villalpando, a former HBO and DirecTV executive, as its new senior vice president of marketing.

“We see the creation of a strong content business that offers new opportunities for advertisers as a key part of the ActiveVideo value proposition,” Ed Forman, ActiveVideo Networks’ executive vice president of products and services, said in a statement. “We believe that Jason Harvey’s superior management skills and innate sense of marketplace trends will accelerate our ability to create and execute the comprehensive, compelling content strategy that will benefit our customers, our partners and ourselves.”
